It's not as good as St. Bruno. |

Now who told you that?
I always wondered whether this one was more Burley than Va. Not exactly sweet, is it? It's been years since I had any but it's quite different than St. Bruno and it failed to charm me too. |

St. Bruno
is awesome stuff. I might have to go sifting through the varieties of SG, G&H, and Esoterica to find a blend like St. Bruno available in the US.
St. Bruno
is a sweet virginia, with enough burley to give the smoke a good texture. I smoked the flake version, which rubs out easily into needles.
St. Bruno
is scented
just right
with a charactistic assortment of British florals.
In contrast,
Condor
Ready Rubbed is a shag tobacco, with too much floral scent and too much nicotine. And the shag delivers it
all,
very fast. Smoking Condor makes me think of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Walnut Flake
(no relation to the American
Walnut)
just doesn't taste like much of anything. It lacks both the floral nose and the virginia sweetness of
St. Bruno.
If it is burley, it is a very bland burley.
All of these British citizens are polite, with no tendency to bite. |

It is! And it doesn't really have a doppelganger in the Lake District or anywhere else. And believe me, I've looked. But the looking is quite enjoyable unto itself so don't let this stop you. I think some of GH's sorta have the same cheery demeanor as St. B. I've told you about them already. And given the choice I think I'd take them over St. Bruno. There are a lot of good 'uns in the GH nursery and that matters
But there was more than St. Bruno actually. McQuaid plug you already know about. .... Gallaher's Rich Dark Honeydew is yet another one of the little lovely's. It's also gone. And some of the GH's are a little like that one too. |

Oh! I'm so sorry!
I just shared the last of my St. Bruno with fisherofpipes.... he gave me some of his G&H mischief (coconut rope) and some of that toxic Rustica he keeps going on about.
fisherofpipes is sending his mom to England... He needed to know what she should smuggle home. |

Nice, well, we'll have to get her to smuggle enough for all of us.

Another one I would be happy to take off anybodys hands as I would Condor or Walnut Flake. St Bruno is a great blend, I just wish they would sell it over here. It does not use perfume or florals in the flavoring. It is VA with a flavoring of Bergomet oils. Just like Ear Grey tea. |

Does this, Del, mean you are all out of St. Bruno?! |

I've been considering this blend for a while now. Of course that is all I've been able to do since I live here in the US!
But, some of my family will be heading to Scotland in a couple months and I was curious, how much tobacco can a person
legally
smuggle back to the US. Is there a limit? |

My St. Bruno is all gone.
I'm having fun with a variety of Gawith & Hoggarth tobaccos, which are readily available.

I have been scouring the internet for a clue to this one, too.
There is probably a suitable limit on how many grams of pipe tobacco a person can carry into America without having to pay an import duty tax.
Does anyone know? |

Yes, I know as I do it when ever I travel. The limits are for personal consumption only. They will not charge duty on the following. One pound of pipe tobacco, 1 box of cigars, or two cartons of cigarettes. I have never had trouble with these amounts. |
