False Flag: How Israeli Mossad agents posed as American spies

Quote:
Buried deep in the archives of America's intelligence services are a series of memos, written during the last years of President George W. Bush's administration, that describe how Israeli Mossad officers recruited operatives belonging to the terrorist group Jundallah by passing themselves off as American agents. According to two U.S. intelligence officials, the Israelis, flush with American dollars and toting U.S. passports, posed as CIA officers in recruiting Jundallah operatives -- what is commonly referred to as a "false flag" operation...

The officials did not know whether the Israeli program to recruit and use Jundallah is ongoing. Nevertheless, they were stunned by the brazenness of the Mossad's efforts.

"It's amazing what the Israelis thought they could get away with," the intelligence officer said. "Their recruitment activities were nearly in the open. They apparently didn't give a damn what we thought."

Ain't spy games fun?

That would narrow its scope. Although I question why this need its own thread, the use of the term isn't derogatory.

I find it sort of off-putting.

I agree - this whole thread is off putting.

This thread should be renamed "Catholics and their views against the Jews"

Pardon?

I challenge you, esteemed comrade, to find anything negative in my postings re: Jewish folk.

Another broad brush alert! Wink

I wouldn't even say this can be summed up as "Catholic" even if there is real and serious meat to the cultural differences between Jewish and Catholic differences. Most Catholics know that this sort of descriptive language isn't Kosher. Pun maybe?

SSPX Catholic might not be quite such a broad brush here. They have a culture all their own. Patience and consideration. Non of use love perfectly yet. None of us.

You can challenge my perception all you want. Just saying what I sense about the entire thread. Regards.

You are entirely correct.

I did not intend my statement to mean the entirety of Catholicism. Just some folks here. Which, again, is a perception.

It reminds me of the fiasco with Mel Gibson a few years ago. Certain Jewish organizations got overly sensitive toward the movie "Passion of the Christ" and then low and behold their anger toward him was retaliated by Mel Gibson in obviously hateful ways. Round and round it goes. One is too sensitive and another not sensitive enough. There is no win, win regardless unless we become quick to forgive other's trespasses. Regardless, the use of the word "Jew" around here has been done in a way that the greater culture is aware can draw out the insensitivity's so it's probably better to at least try to avoid that. Just my .02 cents.

Non of the above is directed at you sideache. I was saying in general sort of way here. No one in particular here.

Ain't spy games fun?

This seems particularly fun...

Quote:
"This certainly isn't the first time this has happened, though it's the worst case I've heard of," former Centcom chief and retired Gen. Joe Hoar said of the Israeli operation upon being informed of it. "But while false-flag operations are hardly new, they're extremely dangerous. You're basically using your friendship with an ally for your own purposes. Israel is playing with fire. It gets us involved in their covert war, whether we want to be involved or not."

The Israeli operation left a number of recently retired CIA officers sputtering in frustration. "It's going to be pretty hard for the U.S. to distance itself from an Israeli attack on Iran with this kind of thing going on," one of them told me...

What has become crystal clear, however, is the level of anger among senior intelligence officials about Israel's actions. "This was stupid and dangerous," the intelligence official who first told me about the operation said. "Israel is supposed to be working with us, not against us. If they want to shed blood, it would help a lot if it was their blood and not ours. You know, they're supposed to be a strategic asset. Well, guess what? There are a lot of people now, important people, who just don't think that's true."
