What was your last tobacco purchase?

Post by John-Boy » Mon Oct 27, 2003 1:05 pm

I made it to the shop last Friday and picked up a tin of Butera - Royal Vintage Sweet Cavendish (first time trying that one) and a tin of Frog Morton on the Town (my favorite).

A couple of months ago I got a lovely shipment from www.pipesforless.com with GLP's Haddos, GLP's Barbary Coast, GLP's Renessance, and Blue Note. A beautiful day :D

The last one was an areomatic my wife wanted me to try. Before that, I decided on a tin of Sweet Vanilla Honeydew over Blue Note (now and need the Blue Note), and a couple ounces of a va/perique blend I really like.

My last order was for MacBarens Dark Twist and Burley Blend, and Reiner Long Golden flake. A VERY unusual order for me as I'm a big fan of Full English blends. The only one I've tried so far is Dark twist and it's starting to grow on me. I find it needs a narrower bowl to really give me any flavour. I've never tried any good un-flavoured burley before, so i don't know what to expect with that one, and I've heard nothing but praise about LGF so I'm looking forward to trying that one.

My last tobacco purchase was a hlf pound of "Foggy Harbor" at the Briar and Burley Pipe Shop in Panama City FL. This is a great little place that I have gone to ever year for the past twenty-five years.

I just brought home three tins of W.O. Larsen to try Collector's Classic and Old Fashion. I will most like have them smoked up, if I like them, before Christmas

I'm waiting on an order right now of Sweet Cavendish (my regular smoke) and new tries of Blue Note and Sweet Vanilla Honeydew based on some of the reviews I have read both here and on other sites. I might end up using the Sweet Cavendish as a swap when the Pass Box heads my way so I can try something new! 8)

Charles - ready your review on Haven (I think that's where it was) of NAS - sounds pretty intersting. Looking forward to giving it a try. :D

I've been waiting for one of the local shops to get in Sweet Vanilla Honeydew. I've read so much about it I want to try it too. I suppose I'll have to break down and order it online if it doesn't turn up locally soon.

I've been pretty happy with Sweet Cavendish - despite it's less than stellar reviews on TobaccoReviews.com. I tried it first then read the reviews. Was kind of funny - my experience and thought about the tobacco was pretty much inline with the reviewers... expecpt for my conclusion. They seem to think it boring - I like it!

I do plan on putting it in the box regardless of whether I take anything out or not. Besides the tobacco, it has sage bearberry, red willow, and spearmint. Fans of sweet aromatics will probably like this.

Sounds interesting. If I were partaking of the box-pass, I'd probably try a bowl.

I just picked up a tin of Butera's Royal Vintage Latakia #2 - now I have to wait for the evening commute to try it! I'm praying for a traffic jam. :D

I've grown very fond of Presbyterian Mixture. My last purchase was 6 tins of this blend. For those looking for a very fine Va/Oriental mixture with body and no bite, this one is a dandy! It reminds me of the old (80's) Rattrays Red Rapparre - full, creamy, spicy and cool

Last Tobacco Purchase

Post by LtMac » Fri Jan 02, 2004 4:27 am

I'm glad to hear your praise of Presbyterian Mixture Old Sea Rock. I ordered one tin of it plus one Hal O Wynd and one Early Morning Pipe on New Year's Eve. I am eagerly awaiting the arrival, Stand by until it arrives and I'll let you know if I agree.

I don't think I've tried an Oriental yet - I need to pick up some one of these days.

My last tobacco purchase was a tin of Christmas Cheer 2003 purchased on Christmas Eve.
