It comes off as rather well peated scotch to me - along the lines of Lagavulin++.
How dare you, sir!
I dare. I dare so much.

The rich sweet-vinegar aroma is typical of aged virginias.

Add the smokey aroma of latakia, and you get "barbecue sauce."
‘skcuse me there, Delster.

We once shared BBQ in downtown Raleigh. Your bride can vouche for that.

If the BBQ Sauce scent is felt in North Carolina, wouldn’t it be more McClellandesque?
I have no idea how to translate Carolina barbecue into terms that could be understood in Pasadena.
Really surprised there's been no response to this.
Me too. Oh. wait.

ummm I am wondering how the del knows my dryer sheets were once stolen from a coin-op in, well, I can't really remember what city but, it was in California. So, let's just say, Pasadena.

The OP, from the Los Angeles region near Pasadena, asked why Penzance smells like barbecue sauce.

Y'all can just thank me for not launching into a dissertation on the superior merits of the Pit Barrel Cooker, okay?

It comes off as rather well peated scotch to me - along the lines of Lagavulin++. Exotique and that one Kramer's blend do the same for me.
Exotique, Penzance, Margate, Balkan Sasieni all do this for me. They're also the only English mixtures I really love: I seem to require that, but Penzance does it with the least latakia, to my tasters.
I visited a friend the other day while I was on a walk and he shared some Highland Park Scotch with me. I don't know if it was 12 or 18. As I was walking back home I tried and tried to put my finger on the flavors I had just experienced. Then it hit me: Penzance. Definitely Penzance.

I haven't read this thread since October, and because it was a busy Fall, I think I just rushed through the thread, because it was about one of my favorite blends...the point is I missed some of the thread.

Now that I have re-read...It must be stated that there is some Classic Del here...I mean CLASSIC DEL!
I am still chuckling quietly to myself. Funny stuff Del.
