Anyone else here fond of Ten Russians?

Post by wsblevins » Sat Jan 06, 2018 11:49 am

Some time ago, an old pipe smoker told me that the tobacco with the highest Latakia content that he ever smoked was Captain Earle’s Ten Russians. I admit that it put me off from trying it for a few years. When I got around to satisfying my curiosity a few months ago, I bought a tin.
Holy smokes! This stuff is delicious! I regret not buying this years ago. By far the best thing I ever put in a pipe.

I've never tried it, but you've made me curious. I just ordered a tin.

Several years ago the pipe guy at the local B&M suggested to me based on my purchases over time that I might like Capt. Earl's Stimulus Package...it is a lat bomb...well after I liked that I had to try 10 Russians...that led to a couple of tins a year since. 10 Russians is my favorite Capt. Earl blend...Blended by C&D...and like all C&D blends its even better when the tin is a year or so old when you open it...the flavors are really melded by then.

Throw me a pinch?

Pirate Kake is the highest lat blend I've tried so far.

I am having my first bowl in the Turner Rhodie and a side of Four Rose's Small batch on the rocks. The Penguins trounced the Capitols 7-3. It's Friday. I got to scoot early from work today. I got Tobacco Fairy'd. Twice.

This is alright. Oh, the bakky? Ok.

First blush.

Tin note = awesome
Tin presentation = a flippin' delish English brownie

I dried some of the cast off from the brownie (I have a latakia rich brownie in my house right now!) until it met my personal crunch test. No. Don't ask. It is TF-HQ R&D Propriety. As I was saying, it takes to the zippo flame easily, it's crunchy so no shock there.

It tastes like a Lakakia Brownie. In the most bestest way you can imagine.

I'll bet it pairs nicely with that Bourbon.

True for most blends, the year old tin. One of the drawbacks of ordering on line is that you miss the opportunity to check the dates.

McClelland Beacon Extra is also very very good. I have to say that because I recently bought 30 tins.

That has as much to do with Ten Russians as your daily life in Ajo has to do with the execution of the Russian royal family. You can derp less. The decision is up to you.

This is just plain stupid, restrain yourself.
