I would like to protest DST. Looking for your input on what might be appropriate, outside of, "Move to Arizona."
Move to Hawaii
Or Saskatchewan. Though no one should suffer that fate. There's Indiana,I suppose. No, wait. That's just the Saskatchewan of the USA.

Alas, Indiana succumbed to the dark side a couple years back. It is no longer a safe haven from DST idiocy; much to my dismay and revulsion.

Just to be clear, is everyone protesting DST? or is the gripe with switching back to standard time and earlier PM darkness?

Why not hack the world clocks so that all the electronic clocks adjust by 30 minutes to split the difference and then just deny it ever happened? Later, "oh by the way" we are going to stop with all the daylight savings time switching fall and spring stuff.

One good thing about it for northern climes is that kids aren't going to school while it's still dark.

Sure they are. They were waiting for buses out in the dark last week and they will again. School starts earlier here. And we're not very far north. It's dark until mid-morning up north. Go far enough and it's dark all the time. They have school too. They're somewhat subdued at this time of the year. In June in northern towns the opposite happens and the first days after school is done they run around most of the night because the sun is up until 11pm or later. After a few days & nights of that things quieten down again.

I've been up an hour early, at 3:30 a.m., two days in a row now. Not diggin it.

Now you know what it's like here. I knew I felt a disturbance. Of course getting to sleep in until 9:30 Zulu is decadent.

With GPS we could eliminate time zones altogether and the actual time would be more precise because it depends upon your location actually your longitude. Time zones are a very rough approximation. Imagine the fun driving west at high speeds and noticing the pace of time slowing down. Go fast enough and it stops. What a treat! The speed at which you have to travel to stop the 'watch' depends upon your latitude. Or heading east and watching it fly. Let's do it.
