Never noticed these kinds of humidity and dew points readings here.

Dew Point -1 °F
Humidity 2%

But this is going to change soon as monsoon (July 1st) approaches.

It's been raining for several hours. I've been sitting on the back porch, smoking a pipe and reading.

We're going to be getting some of those, beginning in about 2 weeks. Ah. Monsoon season in the Sonoran Desert. A perfect punctuation to a southwest summer.

There was one storm I remember where it rained so hard, I could not see the neighbors houses across the street. 4 inches in 2 hours.

Our first spell in the 90s is forecast to begin this weekend, but nighttime lows will be in the low 50s.
At the moment, it's 85 with 8% humidity and a gentle breeze.

How sweet. Low 50s at night. I can only dream when we'll again see that here. Not until late October.

Where my brother lives over near Yuma, it's presently 108 degrees at 10 am. :egor: Forecast high in Phoenix today is 119

The below forecast shows a week from Wednesday, temps finally cool down to a high of "only" 106. :? Ugh. 9 days from now. I am having to cancel this Thursdays Phoenix medical appointment as I will not subject my old Tacoma to such abuse.

Ouch!

Forecast to be 94 for our high, lows in the low 50s next three days.
We consider this unbearably hot, and definitely unusually hot for here.

I saw some light monsoon type clouds off in the east this morning, and that is always from where we first see them. About 10 days early this year.

Perhaps this huge intense high pressure that has brought record heat, is affecting the monsoonal flow.

Keep observing. There are lots of cycles and patterns on top of each other in our environment. Decoupling them or figuring out how they are coupled is fascinating.

At nearly 10:30 am,...

Heat Index 98 °F
Dew Point 46 °F
Humidity 15%

Humidity and especially dew point are creeping up. Monsoon is on it's way!

93 F at the moment and 9% rel. humidity - with thunderheads building over the high terrain.
Pretty soon we should be getting daily, afternoon showers.

Doesn't look like it yet.
I think the next few weeks will just be localized convection storms.

When the monsoonal moisture starts streaming up from the south we'll see it on radar showing up down your way first.
