Still waiting for our first monsoon boomer to dump on us. Chances increase again later this week.

It's hot. God, it's hot. I'm going to find some way of blaming Del and Goose for this.

Strong monsoonal pattern developing in these parts now. Temps are way down, only 70 F at the moment.

We've been in the 90s for a while now, and high humidity.

34c in the backyard right now. It is much drier today than it has been. Only 43% humidity compared to the 90+ of the past week.

Its very warm today. And though we don't get very high humidity what we have, is felt.

These are the type days strong thunder and lightning storms can brew.

I love a good thunderstorm.

We're over one month into monsoon season and have yet to have a boomer here. And now the forecast shows the monsoon flow receding for the next 10 days or so.

We got hit hard in a localized monsoon here. Work is about 7 miles away and only some sense of rain. Over at the house and on the way home I saw:

Blown over saguaro -- a good 15-20 foot tall. It was laid out in the road and someone put cones out for driving around it. This morning it was replanted/connected or someone was looking over the remaining ones-- I wasn't quite close to tell if it was the same one or another of the patch in the median.

Standing water in the road at an intersection. Had to go around it.

Trees and large limbs broken and into the roads.

Traffic lights at a major intersection flashing red as the controller was broken.

Folks I know not too far away were hit with a microburst that took down a fence and parts of their and their neighbor's roofs.

The forecast had only shown cloudy and high heat. I'm not so sure we're through with monsoons and interesting weather as they're not always able to forecast them well.

Delightful. About 85 F with a breeze, and unusually low humidity for monsoon season. We'll take it, gladly!

Yep, I figured the Chicago area has the same stupid weather when I saw your floods. From Chicago to Quebec City it's similar. 62F and going down to 50F tonight. It's clear at least. That's better than all the rain.

This is summer? No. The damn leaves think it's fall already. Really. We have maple leaves going red. They gave up.

Highs in the upper 70s, lows in the low 50s, cool, sunny mornings and evenings with punctual afternoon showers. Pretty typical early August weather and great pipe smoking weather.

Had a bang-up of a thunderstorm roll through last night. The wind blew so hard the house shook. I figured I would rise to real mess this morning, but the yard is spick and span. No pine needles, leaves, limbs... nada.

Boom.

Warm (mid 80s), dry (no real rain for about 2 months), and smoky (thanks BC wild fires).

The 'haze' in this picture is mostly resulting from the wild fire smoke. It's been rough on the throat/lungs.

Still high and dry here. Yet to experience a boomer, getting onto 6 weeks into monsoon season.

Highs in the '70's all through this first week of August. That's just wrong.
