Highs in the '70's all through this first week of August. That's just wrong.

When the earth become uninhabitable due to global warming, I can invite a few of my best CPS friends to live in Wisconsin.
Plans made. I'll be there next summer.

Sunny, as usual, but delightfully cool and breezy this morning for mid August. But we'll take it.

Monsoonal flow made an unexpected sudden return this morning, with a clouded eastern skies.

Cool and clear. 60 F and dropping. Heading for the 40's tonight. I don't know what happened to summer. Can we apply for a refund? I refuse to turn on the furnace until at least mid-Sept.

The summer triangle will be overhead tonight. Time for woollys, hot chocolate, and a pair of binoculars... with pipe!

It hit 32 in Sprague, MB overnight yesterday. We are still getting some nice highs this coming week. It was 80 here today.

A very strong high pressure system has pushed most of monsoon back to the Gulf of Mexico, and may be causing Harvey to stall over south Texas. We'd gladly take several inches of the rain they are forecast to be inundated with.

The result here is very high temps again.

Turning on your furnace in September? Oh, egads. Wish we could send you some of our warmth.

Sept. 15 is pretty much normal.
I'm a long way north of you. It used to be that around September 15 was the average date for first frost overnight (below freezing) and the temperatures during the warm sunny day following may rise to a max of 65-70F. The average temp. is below 65F over that 24 hrs as it was yesterday. Many people start using their furnaces up here around Sept 15. That goes to the definition of a 'heating degree day' as well, which is "the number of degrees that a day's average temperature is below 65 Fahrenheit (18 Celsius), the temperature below which buildings need to be heated."

Last frost was, on average, May 15. The interval between first and last frost (Sept-May) for furnace use is about 8 months of the year. And that's tropical southern Canada! We're basking in warmth. We actually have liquid lakes for much of the year. LOL! Lake ice break-up is usually in April and you can hear the lake ice booming. Northern Canada is a might cooler. With only a dozen or so exceptional days they heat year round. That's true for much of Alaska too except the southern coast. This is all normal.

It may be that with climate change those first/last frost dates have moved 2 weeks to a month. Lately I think we don't see first frost until the first week of Oct and last frost is prob nearer end of April. The first week of May the bush/woods are all in flower and tulips start growing up here and leaf follows. The first week of October is peak leaf colour. The deciduous leaves are down by the end of October and the Tamarack is in colour. That's the last colour until spring. Our Thanksgiving is on the American Columbus day. And that works quite well and corresponds to fall harvest. Many years we have snow on the ground by Nov. 1st. But this summer has been cold up here and I think it's been cooler and wetter this year for Chicago right through to Quebec City. So it's not just here. This is a very odd summer. Next year is unlikely to be a repeat - I hope.

Yes, it is more than plenty warm.

It's the huge high pressure system that meteorologists are saying is stalling Hurricane Harvey, bringing unprecedented rain to those poor folk in Texas.

Catching a break at the moment. Pretty large red band east and north of us though.

Sshh. Don't jinx it, fabulous at the moment. 72, partly cloudy with a breeze.

Really strong high pressure system has fought mightily to push monsoon back. Hope it comes back because we've only had 2 inches of rain out of monsoon so far.

Wow. We're at 66F, and clear right now. Going down to 48F tonight. Again. The pool-boy is non-communicado. I think he's catatonic. Nobody, except him, has even entered the pool this summer. Apparently there are theories that the only place on the entire planet where it's raining is SE Texas. And boy is it raining.

2" doesn't count anymore, that's a thunderstorm, sprinklers can do that... SE Texas is talking twenty times that much over one week. Where is your pride?
