Are you boycotting the science in the news thread?
The title is misleading.... should be Theorists believe own theory, earnestly. Until they find evidence it's not real. Nobody would bother booking telescope time if the evidence was irrelevant. Evidence, and the lack of it, is only irrelevant with religious stuff.

ANCIENT EGYPTIAN AND BIBLICAL TEXTS REVEAL OLDEST KNOWN SOLAR ECLIPSE—AND SECRETS OF RAMESSES THE GREAT'S RULE
Using rare ancient Egyptian carvings and passages from the Old Testament book of Joshua, academics have revealed the date of the earliest ever recorded solar eclipse, establishing an exact chronology for when the pharaohs ruled.

By cross referencing the two texts, academics from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom have ascertained that the solar eclipse mentioned in the bible occurred on the afternoon of October 30, 1207 B.C.
