The work station was delivered here a couple days ago and yesterday I unpacked 430 pounds of 3 long flat boxes that the freight company managed to conveniently place at my front door, on a long narrow wooden pallet. I've built the main desk part and now am looking at the instruction manual and a box of parts to build the credenza.

I will cover the the top of the main desk with cardboard and use it as a work bench as I study and proceed carefully. The schematic shows an L shaped configuration but I am making it with the U shaped option not shown. The main desk will be joined and the keyboard drawer will be in the center, upon which the new large PC monitor will be, as shown in the third pic

For the past 6-8 months, I've been working on illustrating (pencils, inks, colors) and lettering an "indie" comic book-- "The Deflectors" #2, script by Eric Clements.

It's superhero team spoof, in the vein of old "Mad" comics or Marvel's "Not Brand Ecch," with all-original characters. We just debuted it at Rose City Comic Con in Portland, OR.

Available at Sterling Silver Comics (Camarillo, CA) mail order (https://www.storenvy.com/stores/217648-bohemian-nights), or PM me and I'll get one to you.

When I get a moment or two in the woodshop here on the Ranch I've been working trying to make a few hardwood fly boxes. I hope to auction them off at some point.

I made some stakes for the kids new trampoline at work. There are perks to working in metal fabrication.

A sermon for a church I'm preaching at tomorrow. They asked if I would preach on "Hope, based on Jeremiah 29:11." I will. In beautiful historical-cultural context.

You have kids that jump on trampolines at work? ... what do you do?

Dunno about that, but He has one helluva sense of humour.

No. If He were just that, and had no mercy, we'd all be eviscerated.

Au contraire Pierre. He is just. In fact He demands justice and He can do nothing less. In His mercy though, He had a plan to deliver our punishment to someone else.

Cooler weather yard work...

One of two beautiful Pindo Palms I planted back in 2005 in the median strip between the sidewalk and street curb has had major issues for some time. Finally it "dawned" on me 8) that it has a poor root system. So, today I treated the surrounding soil with a very slow soaking (through a soak-er hose) of Alka Liche in 60 gallons of water, one tablespoon per gallon, to break up the hard Ca-liche soil. I used aeration to keep it in solution in the 32 gallon drum, as it soaked.

Image

When that has soaked in I'm going to immediately water in a good amount of Gypsum around the base of the truck, to help wash away most of the acidic solution from what few roots this palm has. The Gypsum will also serve to help break up any hardened soil beneath the existing roots. Keeping my fingers crossed that this works.
