Longmire

Post by Kerdy » Tue Jul 08, 2014 11:40 pm

I have discovered a television show called Longmire. I enjoy it for the most part, but the police work is so bad I have a hard time not sitting there thinking of all the things they do wrong. I get it's just a television show, but they could at least attempt to make it realistic. It's worse than NCIS and CSI. Anyone else watch the show?

I love the books so I started watching the show when I could (I don't have cable so I watch it on Hulu when they allow it). I did buy the first two seasons on dvd.

I thought this thread was about a new blend named "Longmire."

Sounds good.

My wife and I have watched most of the episodes on Netflix. I don't know about the police work part, but we have enjoyed the show.

That's what I was thinking too. It sounds like a GL Pease name to me.

Show is ok. Weird thing is - for such a small community, they seem to have plenty of folks to get killed off in every episode...

Rita and I are big fans of Longmire. They do a pretty good job developing the characters and we just take the rest for what it is and don't try to analyze anything. I have to do the same thing with fire/EMS shows or they will make me crazy. :egor:

Didn't "Murder She Wrote" have larger populations that they could kill off?

Good show, we like it.

Seems more of a story of a man dealing with his personal demons rather than a police show.

If Cabot Cove's population was equal to it's real life counter part (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mendocino,_California) then it's population in the mid 80s was in the low to mid 900s.

These types of shows have made many jobs in the legal system more difficult than they previously were. Now there has to be evidence of DNA or some awesome experiment for people to believe prosecutors and police officers in certain cases, and when such evidence is present, defendants have to hire experts to rebut it, even if the evidence doesn't lend as much weight to guilt as the prosecution suggests.

AND people think that "badgering the witness" is an objectionable action.

It left me looking forward to next season, so I'd call it a successful wrap to this one. I'm glad they didn't leave us hanging about his wife's killer and the cliff-hanger was enough to keep me interested without p'ing me off.
