Anyone have any interest in training "together"? Work towards a 5k? Mutual encouragement, etc?

Count me in! I've been severely lacking the motivation to get my rear end back in gear.

This would be a good thing. I put over a thousand on the bike this summer and the results are less than expected.

I'm in. I try to run regularly anyway. I'm doing a half marathon in Pigeon Forge, TN in December.

How are training on a bike? I do quite well with mine, but I ride with purpose in mind.

As to running. Maybe. I tend to sustain injuries with long distance running.

My main goal for the next couple months is to get out the door. I'm targeting minimum 3 runs a week, but a 4th run or a couple days of cross training would be great to add in. Next race on the calendar is a 5k turkey trot on Thanksgiving. I have a couple longer runs I'd like to do in the spring, but I don't want to start training with a longer distance in mind... I want to focus on getting out regularly and enjoying regular 2 - 3 milers before bumping up the mileage.

FWIW - I got out for 2 miles tonight.

Anyone else?

Good job on getting out. I've had chest congestion for over a week now and haven't been able to go, even missed my long run on Sunday which I try to ALWAYS do.. no matter what. I really dread the time change this weekend, getting dark at 6:00 doesn't really bode well for me getting a run in after work. Not that I really mind running in the dark.. I dunno.. it just seems to zap my motivation. :/ Short term goals are just to put in a good solid effort for this Half Marathon I've got coming up. I've not done one in a year, and I've been a pretty big slacker in most regards. I'm running 11-12 mile long runs on the weekend though, so I don't really worry about covering the distance. I'd like to see myself come in under 2 hours, but I'm not sure if that's going to happen.

I thought the first rule of Runnin' Club was don't talk about Runnin' Club.

I'm able to do 5K on the treadmill and did so last Wednesday, but the road is tough on me at my current weight. Count me in as working toward 5K on the road.

I could be in to this.

Just started running again a couple weeks ago.

Two miles, not admitting to the time but it was faster than walking.

I can go out on the bike and put in double-digits worth of miles at a 12+ mph clip but can't keep up a slow running pace for more than a couple of minutes.

Where do you feel it? Lungs or legs? Cycling and running are different muscles. I bet your mileage will ramp up quicker than you might think because of your cycling training.
