Yes, another sport thread.

Preseason started yesterday and there are only 16 days until the season openers. This is the one pro sport I can still get excited about all season long.

It is impossible to be fans of both, sir. The Pens were once a farm club for those Detroit degenerates. Of course, I repeat myself.

I wish KC had an NHL team. They built an arena downtown with the promise to put an NBA or NHL team in and it hasn't happened yet.

But there is progress. We have a fun ECHL team that just recently affiliated itself with the New York Islanders.

Congratulations on your progress. Houston has let two teams leave over the years. The current facility, the Toyota Center, was promised as a hockey venue, but the Rockets owner controls it and pushed the Aeros out of town. I really believe we could embrace the sport here, but local politics seems to get in the way.

For a few years in the 70's, KC had an NHL team. The Scouts are now the New Jersey Devils, so the Devils get my NHL loyalty. I suppose I'll have to start showing the Islanders a little love now too. The best hockey news KC has had in the last few years is that Lamar Hunt Jr bought our ECHL team last year. Of course Mr Hunt's father founded both the AFL and MLS and owned teams in both sport leagues so we have high hopes that Jr can make big-time hockey work in Kansas City.

The losing CPSr must post a public statement in this thread proclaiming the superiority of the winning team?

Or we could bet a tin.

Yes, the Red wings played much better hockey this evening! There's a lot of hockey left, but they certainly look the superior team.

I'm really hoping the Jets take another step forward this year. I'm in a season ticket group here in the Peg; get 9 games a year. Central division is no joke, though

41 games for Raffi Torres. Too much or not enough? I don't have much use for him.

Yeah, I don't even like to watch the guy play. I love tough, aggressive play, but he's just a turd trying to injure people.

I'm ok with 41 games. Over 400k of his missed earnings will go towards player assistance, also.

In even bigger news, the ISHL Red Wings held their second pre-season practice tonight and drafted a hot new team manager named Rita.

Torres is serving his fifth suspension in 5 years. The league should send him away for good. I understand how fast the game is and that you get amped up during the game, and perhaps even more so in a preseason or early season game, but the guy has a history. In fact, his latest hit is illegal, but it isn't that bad and would have called for nothing more than a 2 minute sit in the box if it had been anybody else.
