The Amazing Dinosaur Found (Accidentally) by Miners in Canada
Known as a nodosaur, this 110 million-year-old, armored plant-eater is the best preserved fossil of its kind ever found.

Pretty nice fossil but for being less than 5000 years old that can be expected. :D

Wow 8O

Baby Bird from Time of Dinosaurs Found Fossilized in Amber
The remains of a baby bird from the time of the dinosaurs have been discovered in a specimen of 99-million-year-old amber, according to scientists writing in the journal Gondwana Research.

The hatchling belonged to a major group of birds known as enantiornithes, which went extinct along with dinosaurs at the end of the Cretaceous period, about 65 million years ago. Funded in part by the National Geographic Society's Expeditions Council, this discovery is providing critical new information about these ancient, toothed birds and how they differed from modern birds.

Almost no Neanderthal? That doesn't really do it. You really have to be descended from Bushmen in sub-Sahara Africa to be free of it. They're probably descended from other archaic peoples and of course so are we. There is no escape for any of us.

It appears that the Neanderthal genetic diversity was quite low with many having parents that were related. The same thing would have been happening with small hunter-gatherer groups out of Africa over generations. Discovery of others, including archaic others, would have contributed to more than just local immunity to diseases and pests beyond Africa. And this would be true for the archaic peoples too.

I would love for Augustine of Hippo to be with us and realize, after learning all this, that he was in character for humans in his young years and the later chastity stuff was out of character for humans.

There is a difference between having common DNA because of shared ancestry and that due to intermixing, latest studies I saw (admittedly probably close to 10 years at this point) have non-africans at anywhere from 1-5% Neadnderthal DNA with the average a little below 2%. If the National Geographics Genographics test results are trustworthy I came in at 0.3% Neanderthal.

0.3% of about 3 billion nucleotides in your nuclear DNA yields over 9 million neanderthal nucleotides. These aren't from common structure that doesn't admit variation, but rather bonafide Neanderthal stuff. Your immune system is Neanderthal+Human. Your hair and skin too. Admit it; you feel Neanderthal some days, right? Go ahead, show us your Neanderthal face and your Neanderthal grunt.

Don't cry. Think of it this way - Jesus was a Neanderthal hybrid too, and likely had more Neanderthal than you. Neanderthal is in. All the popes? Neanderthal hybrids. Every one of them. The head of EO, whatever they call them, all Neanderthal hybrids. Augustine? Yup. Chesterton? Definitely. Every white person that ever quoted Chesterton? Yep. Name somebody, go ahead. Just spend a moment thinking about what this news means for white supremacists. There's your smile for today. :D
