If Ever You Want To Feel Cool, Think Of Furnace Creek, CA

Post by Goose55 » Mon Jun 19, 2017 1:28 pm

Today is forecast to be Cooler than yesterday, in Furnace Creek, California.....

https://www.wunderground.com/q/zmw:92328.3.99999?MR=1

Yesterday, it was 127 F in Furnace Creek.

The highest temperature ever recorded in the United States? 134 degrees Fahrenheit in Death Valley, CA on July 10, 1913

When you think it's hot where you are, take comfort in this.

We have threads on weather. Are we now going to start individual threads on other people's weather? There are no bonus points for starting new threads. Just sayin'...

Let's make an exception this time, because of the severity of the phenomena. Most of the highest temps are in the Middle East somewhere, so it's very rare that the U.S. experiences this.

And, 127 degrees elsewhere does make some folks 115 feel better. I changed the title of the thread to reflect that.

This is your idea of feeling cool?
It looks uncomfortably hot.

Cool is Alert NU. 2C (35F) today. 24 hr. sunshine. 7.7 degrees from the N. Pole. Most northern permanently inhabited place.
If you ever wanted to get away from it all this is the place. Everywhere else is far away.

It was not cooler in Furnace Creek, CA today. It was 130 F. Four degrees short of the all time record for the hottest U.S temperature, set in 1913, in Death Valley.

I almost took a job with Environment Canada in Alert when I graduated high school. I stayed because because I was in love ... I thought. That girl's heart was colder than Alert in February 🤣

The United States is going to be an oven, Americans should start basting themselves

Apparently this kind of heatwave is going to constitute your summers.

It's 18C (64F) here & going down to 12C (54 F) tonight. Had to put on a sweat shirt because we've got those cool Canadian summer evenings on the go.

You guys are in trouble...

Ooohhh, that gives me chills. Not Alert, but the girl's cold cold heart. Indeed, there's nothing colder.

Roughly 5500 km. on a great circle flight route. Alert is closer to all of: Moscow Russia, Stockholm Sweden, Reykjavik Iceland, and Paris France than it is to Furnace Creek.

Cooler today in Furnace Creek, CA. Only 123 F.

Note here that yesterday it peaked at 129 F, but the low was 74 F. A 55 degree swing. I have never seen that kind of difference before, anywhere.

It worked! Twin unidirectional wormholes were established with end points in the vicinity of Furnace creek & Alert for 6 hrs the night before. They wanted to go swimming in Alert and I thought nobody would miss the heat.
