May he rest in peace. Prayers for his family. Lots of memories, here.
As thus we sat in darkness
Each one busy with his prayers,
"We are lost!" the captain shouted,
As he staggered down the stairs.

O love the Lord, all ye His saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful. Psalm 31:23

Sad news.

Similar to Johnny Cash, his last recordings - when he knew he was near the end - are the best. To my ear anyway.

Seeing the posts here and on FB reminds me how much I disliked most of Glen Campbell's songs. I think he was a better studio musician than singer. Rhinestone Cowboy turned me off of his stuff.

When I was a kid in the mid to late 60s, We had a Sunday night worship leader who had a Gibson and looked like Glen Campbell's brother...His name was Bobby Gelstorp and He was the coolest guy I knew and he was a Glen Campbell fan...so

But I am with you Fred...Rhinestone Cowboy ended it for me

I surprised myself this morning.... I still remember all of the words to Gentle on My Mind.

I should see if I still remember how to play on the banjo.

Never been there.

But if it's like the rest of Texas I probably wouldn't like it.

Galveston is beautiful. Spent an afternoon on the beach there one August day, and the breeze off the Gulf was of course very humid, but constant, so it was quite comfortable. Very relaxing. But of course, I was in the company of one lovely Texas Rose, and I'd have been in bliss anywhere.
