I guess I should rename this to Mike's turning thread? ...
I'm Mike also. :)
Mr. Also? That works... Mike & Also.
But really he's a famous Metis wood warrior, Two-thumbs.

A few containers, commonly called "boxes" by woodturners, despite utterly lacking rectilinearity

The last two were for RevsPipes; the Spanish cedar one for a cigar and the other for pipe cleaners

Tried a bottle stopper tonight. Messed up tapping my thread. It ended up coming loose halfway through. So I put the centre back on and finished it out for practice. Image

Well done on the pen. They make fun projects and cherished gifts. You can make a buck or two with them, also.

I'm starting an order for two dozen bottle stoppers this weekend. Pics to come.
??? :)

Sorry. Last weekend didn't pan-out the way I hoped. I started cutting blanks last night and will post something as soon as shaving start to fly.
Finally, I made some progress today. Twenty-eight blanks squared, drilled, and tapped. These stoppers are going to be pretty beefy. My customer wants 1 3/4" inch challenge coins recessed into the top of the stoppers, so I'm starting with 2.5" x 3" blanks. The blanks are from baseball bat billets that didn't make the cut, pun intended.

I start turning tomorrow.

Slimline pro, olive wood. That stuff smells so good. I did forget to put the clip on ... Whoops.

And I just started using shellawax. I really like it. Much more than a CA finish. What's your favourite finish?Image
