Why You May Want to Avoid Drinking Piping-Hot Tea
A word of caution to tea lovers: Let your cuppa cool a bit before taking a sip. A new study from China finds that drinking tea at extremely high temperatures may increase a person's risk of esophageal cancer, especially if that person also consumes too much alcohol and is a smoker.
Considering they all drink, smoke, and live in cities absolutely surrounded by the foulest of carcinogens, tea is clearly the problem.
Exactly.

Box received! Very nicely packed; and lots of stuff to try. I hope to get it back in the mail system by mid-week next.

I've tried the Kirkland Green, which has a mild flavor, even with extended steep time. The enclosed card says to be sure and sprinkle matcha powder into the cup, though, which I haven't done. In fact I haven't found the matcha powder; maybe I'm over-looking it.

I've also tried the Aracha Genmaicha from Yunomi, just to see what all the hubbub is about, and I like it, aroma and taste, both. But so far I haven't been able to avoid at least a small amount of tiny crumbs ending up in my mouth. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.

Tomorrow I'll try a sample of both of the coffees. And then a few more of the teas. This is a very interesting box pass. I hope I have a few items worthy to pass along. I may not, but I'll try.

Shake the green teabag wrapper over your cup.

I will be sending the box to sweetandsour after work tomorrow.

I didn't take very much out of the box but I did learn a lot. I added a large unopened container of Gunpowder Green Tea and a small sample of whiskey coffee to the box.
Is the whisky coffee labeled as such?

I'm thinking about a dash of angostura bitters also.

NM, I found it. Tried to stretch a couple tbls into making 4 cups and it's too weak, so I really messed that up. Good flavor though, ended up adding a dollop of Eagle Rare to my cup to compensate for my error. I should have ground it to fine and doubled the filters.

Ok, the kitchen was smelling good this afternoon. The aroma from just the herb and red bag could be a great candle scent. Anyway, my takes were a cup or 2 each of, (clockwise): whisky coffee, Russian Caravan, Czar Nicholas, Aracha Genmaicha, and Sen-Cha. Also a bag each of the Yorkshire Gold, Kirkland Green, White Peony, White Peppermint, and Lemon Green. (The Teavana spoon was already mine, and got in the pic somehow.)

Image

My puts, so far: ~2oz Blueberry Bingo, 2-3 oz Sen-Cha (courtesy of my Secret Santa), Mango Black, Lemon-Ginger herbal, 6 oz Earl Grey, ~2-3 oz Monks Blend (black tea with grenadine and vanilla, but smells like butter rum), 1lb of Community Cafe De Olla coffee, ~1lb +/-, 3-Peckered Billy Goat coffee (re-gifted white elephant), a jam spoon and spreader (re-gifted white elephant), and of course for Hugo, a few bags of Lipton.

Image

I'll get the box in the mail early this week, to JimVH.

Edit: BTW, I was very tempted to try the green tea "bulb", that apparently blooms and/or sprouts when placed in hot water. (?) But, no, I passed that one on for someone else to try, and then tell me about it.

Kirkland with the powder sprinkled in the cup was much better.
The white peony was not bad with a couple dashes of bitters, and was much improved with addition of a tbls of Eagle Rare.

It's one of those "Schrodinger's cat" things. Like Star Trek. Or Glee.

Ok, the box is now back in the mail. Is one size larger now, btw. PM sent to JimVH with details.

Had a cup of Yorkshire Gold yesterday. Very good tea, and worth obtaining more of.

Good luck, everyone.

Oh, and btw Brigid, Merry Christmas to you also. Very nice card.
