Manam Island...

Post by JMG » Wed Dec 06, 2017 6:43 am

Got back yesterday from Manam Island. Went to help a new missionary build his house. It was hot as turd out there. I couldn't drink water fast enough. The entire island is just a big ole volcano reaching about 6,000' feet. Smoked the whole time and at night the top glowed red. Thankfully, we got a lot of work done despite some of the normal setbacks of a bush build. Glad to be back with my girls now. Pray for this new missionary family and their co-workers that have been there for a couple years.

The volcano poured out smoke the entire time we were there.

My friend, Ryan (missionary there on Manam) speared this shark one night...

As I was carrying some lumber this lady came up to me and asked me to name her baby...pretty weird. It was her first born. I told her I had three girls and my first born is named Lucy. So, she is now named Lusi.

Thankfully, there were more than enough fresh kulau to drink...

The guys on the island would make these real quick if they needed to carry fish or whatnots and didn't have a bag with them...

Shark steaks are good on the grill. I don't target sharks, but I've caught and ate a few.
As thus we sat in darkness
Each one busy with his prayers,
"We are lost!" the captain shouted,
As he staggered down the stairs.

I don't have the words, John Michael.
Truly love your posts.
