Trying to book tickets...

Post by JMG » Sat Dec 09, 2017 12:55 am

It's a nightmare. Freaking PNG is so stinking expensive. I can literally fly from Mississippi to Tokyo or Sydney for a good deal less than AU to PNG.

Anyway, Jess and I are trying to get tickets back to the States. The cheapest routes go from PNG to either Bali or Tokyo. We always love to stop in the in between places on these trips home to make some memories with our kids and since they don't cost much more money since we stay in hole in the wall places.

Well, Bali is our first choice as it has lots of kid friendly things (monkeys, elephants, etc.) Unfortunately, it also has a volcano erupting. The airport is currently open, but it's a pretty big gamble to take when we would be leaving from PNG...Port Moresby is not a place you want to be stuck. It's just about the same price to go through Tokyo, but the cost to stay in Tokyo is through the roof if we want to stay anywhere within an hour of the airport (Narita).

Coco, you lived in Japan...any advise? Or does any one have a hook up with a place to stay in Manila, Honk Kong?

The only thing I can say is there is a train that runs from Narita airport that will very comfortably get you where you're going, but absolutely nothing in Japan is cheap.

My wife found a pretty good B&B deal, but she spent a ton of time on the internet finding it.

When you're up to it, let us know if you're going to Japan. There are a ton of relatively low cost, pretty cool places your kids can blow off steam. It's lucky you're a preacher, though. Churches are at a reql premium.

Whatever you do, don't take the cheap offer to fly on anything that Oceanic offers.
It's not available because if you try it you will die. Your face will melt off and your children will weep over your exploded body. --Colton
