Links in posts

Post by peter cornbriar » Thu Sep 18, 2014 8:24 am

I know to click on a link in an E-mail is at one's own risk.
What about clicking on link in a post on any number of posts on the CPS site?

What are the stats on reliability and above all, unintended viral diseases in the links that, it appears, are often included in posts/replies ?

I'd sure like to click on some of dem links, they look sooo interesting.

In any instance, you should have some sort of anti-malware/virus software running on whichever device you use to access the site that includes some sort of Website reputation "minder" function.

On other thing you can do is consult Yahoo's or Google's search engine, copy the link into the search form and see if the results come back with a "potentially bad site" warning.

End of the day, don't expect the site nor the person posting the link to be looking out for the best interests of your PC, tablet, phone, etc. They cannot control what happens to the site after they post the link to it.

Joe

Another question:
Does CPS have a universal "look who's on the whole site right now" vs look who's on the (specific) forum indicator?

To be fair - there is a thread that has pre-approved links. I think it's labeled as such.

I'm pretty sure if anyone posted a truly bad link--- not just inappropriate which mods have been known to remove or modify.... but a destructive link-- and collective CPS negative response would probably resolve any need for said poster to be removed. It just doesn't happen.... well, I did have a warning once by someone who is currently in a timeout. He posted links that my work firewall/checker said were not allowed. I learned I really shouldn't click on his links.

The links in this CPS thread are pre-approved. They are guaranteed to grow wisdom as well as increase strength and stamina. Enjoy.

Tapatalk preloads a frame so we can see the safety inherent in the link. Very safe link there.
