The Pipe of Man's Desiring

Post by A_Morley » Wed Jul 15, 2009 12:59 pm

I know that we have had topics such as this before, but in the interests of bringing to bear more pipe related topics and discussions, things that have been conspicuously scarce as of late, I hereby posit the following:

Describe your ideal pipe. Better yet, post a picture of a pipe that embodies your ideal.

Mine will come as a surprise to no one.

I am satisfied with my pipe collection.

I tend to lust for tobacco, and utilikilts.

Although I would enjoy a Peterson bulldog.....

The Anti-Cob

I do like a panel. I have one of these in Bruyere. The above finish (Amber Root) would be a step up from what I have but the shape is the same.

I've not been able to define what my ideal pipe is yet. But I just got done looking at a pipe a friend of mine from my church is selling on ebay that I think is just wonderful to look at. I don't believe this would be an ideal daily smoker by any means. Nor do I think this would even be an ideal smoke. I just like the looks of it as a novelty pipe.

I can't say its ideal, but this is likely where I am heading next.

Though I have come to the conclusion that there is no perfect pipe (nor an imperfect one as long as it is not unnecessarily large or designed in such a way as to make smoking harder rather than easier), this one could find a nice home with me.

I like this one as well.

Although, I think my ideal pipe would be very large, with thick walls. Have an almost churchwarden length stem and a flat bottom.

Why? So I can load up an enormous amount of baccy, relax in my chair, place it in my teeth without having to raise my arm (when being lazy, GO FOR IT!), have a very cool smoke and when I do set it down, I don’t have to worry about it rolling over on its side.

I can't find the pic, since the search function decided to lobotomize itself, but its the Sherlock Holmes pipe which Wayne made. The one that is the recreation from the tv series staring Jeremy Brett.

That's mine! I commissioned it! HA HA! It is one of the best smokers going as well. It loves anything you throw at it from VAPER to heavy English.
