It is my understanding that unless one smokes a pipe, frequently & regularly, they will not develop "a palate." They will not develop tastes for tobaccos they like. They may like a bad tobacco and dislike what would otherwise have become very pleasant to them.
I have no idea how more than one person could simultaneously smoke a pipe. I suppose "they" could smoke a hookah to develop their tastes.
Nether can I. Where have you read or heard of more than one person smoking the same pipe simultaneously?

Tense shift, brother. The impudent has been busy, lately. We all knew what you meant, though.

These nonsmokers have no palate? How do they keep food out of their nasal passages?

Apparently, my wordsmithing may be dated. A bit of research indicates that while awkward, the use of the plural pronoun "they" is currently commonly used with the singular antecedent. The use of "he/she" is cumbersome, but the gender neutral "he" is apparently becoming a thing of the past. https://english.stackexchange.com/quest ... on-correct Anyway, I apologize for sniping at you, Goose.

When it's -40 outside it can be as little as once a month. When it's summer it can be around 5-10 times/ week

Three to five bowls a day, more on weekends. Too much, probably.
I think 5 is my average during the week, Sometimes a little more. It's not too much.
It sounded better when the voices in my head were saying it.

Exact opposite for me. During the Winter I smoke a couple bowls a day, more on the weekends. In the summer that number drops to once or twice a week, sometimes going a couple weeks or more with none at all.

OK, last week was the Chicago Pipe Show. I guess about five times a day. That is not my normal practice. Assume once a week for a while, before and after this event. But normal months, two bowls at the pipe club and maybe one other time.

I had always assumed that pipe smokers' habits would be different than the casual cigar smoker. I don't know why I thought that--maybe it is because the pipe isn't disposable and must be kept at home where a cigar smoker can easily just buy one or two a week or month or whenever he wants.

This thread shows me how wrong I was. Winton probably has racks of pipes taking up space waiting for their occasional outing.

I picked 1-2 a week.

As others have said, the weather dictates some of that. I've had some good smelling blends inside, but I prefer to take it outside. Now that it's getting warmer, I'm hoping to smoke more often.

I really ought to get a heat source in my garage and clean it up a bit. Wind and cold keep me from my pipes (and cigars). Having a heated smoking area in the garage fixes both problems.

Yes, you are correct. I now have more than 35 pipes. I really need to sell the ones I never reach for. I told my wife that the only pipe I intend to buy at the next show is the slow smoke contest. I really enjoy the pipes in this contest.

That's a nice habit, sir moose.

I picked 1 - 2 per day. I expect that number to go up should I ever find a suitable blend loaded with nicotine to replace my cig habit.
