None of those three pipe makers were active 25 years ago. Both Parks and Downie were infants at the time. This pipe maker has been making pipes since the 60's. He pre-dates Tinsky as a pipe maker.

Bingo! John Calich made both of those pipes.

John was my mentor. So I owe a lot my knowledge and much of the contextual point of view to him. We enjoyed many many hours of pipe and tobacco talk starting in the 70's. It was John that introduced me to the new (at the time) McClelland tobaccos back in about 1979.

I have more of John's pipes than any other maker.

The Blatter family started making pipes before Dunhill, since 1907 in Canada but they made pipes in England and S. Africa before Canada. The current senior pipe maker Robert Blatter has been making pipes since 1968. I think Calich pre-dates Robert as a pipe maker.
