Saw that coming. You've got a better jaw than I do, Gunga Din.

I think that pipe shape should be called the Edward VII. He was a handsome Prince and a bloated King.
To be fair, it's a well executed pipe. De gustibus, etc. I think most of my prejudice is that as a short, fat clencher-of-pipes, that's a nightmare that would make me look shorter and more fat. I bet it would suit you nicely, sir. You haven't published the second edition of your chin as I have.

Enjoy it!

You're PAD afflicted. But congrats! That caramel-chocolate stem does look nice with the pregnant guppy.
Do you have any large Pot-bowled pipes because that's what it is (external form aside)?

Yes, still infected after a bit of a lull.

I have had several pots over the past few years. I gave some away, kept some and currently have a few Stanwell 118 and 11 pipes. The 118 is a small-medium-sized pot, and the 11 would be considered large by most I expect - and while I have some Italian pipes that exceed the EX for volume (the largest being a Don Carlos Dublin and a Viprati Cherrywood), nothing I have owned or smoked comes close to the 320 EX for breadth.

A long evening with one of my light English Latakias seems in order, especially now that it seems to be cooling off, but I'm open to suggestions regarding what sorts of tobaccos might smoke best in this pipe.

Try your Virginias in it. Because it's so wide it will smoke quite cool. The draft through the ember surface is really low. It's sort of the ultimate answer for fast puffers. But it should work pretty well. The challenge is getting it burning across the roughly 4 hectare surface. Pack a little looser than you might and see if that works. And any kind of mixture will of course work too. If you had some Old Joe Krantz I suggest trying that too.

Will do.

It was an estate that proved too large for the original owner. I doubt he smoked it more than twice and never a full bowl. My weekend pipes are often large bowls and I'm looking forward to my first smoke in this one. Given your suggestion, I may fill it with BBF tomorrow.

I just bought a Cristiano for $14+shipping from a dealer who bought boxes of his pipes after he passed away, and there's a Wayne Teipen on the way from South Africa that cost more than just a bit more. There may be an intervention scheduled here shortly. Might as well grab the Tinsky before the intervention - and/or forced relocation to a padded cell.

I also put the stem to my lips. It was all downhill from there.

For the record, this was before it was sold so the lucky schmuck who shelled out the $1500+ for this one got some ID fingerprints and spit.

Uh, yeah.

"Somebody" snatched it.
Maybe "somebody" will post a picture after it arrives.

"Somebody" was also looking another of Mark's pipes on his website. "Somebody" already has one of his billiards and it is among his favorite pipes. "Somebody" knew this one would sell for over $300 new, and it looked to be in very nice shape. So "somebody" pulled the trigger on it.

Then, and only then, will I visit you in the state hospital. Enlightened self interest, don't you know.
