G. Huybrecht/London Castle

Post by mountainman » Sun Feb 05, 2017 5:53 pm

I found last night an estate G. Huybrecht/London Castle bent billiard on eBay, and won it this morning! $27.50 +s&h. I have a small pot by this maker already and its a great smoker, and I have been looking for another ever since. These pipes are hard to find these days and are made of Algerian briar, so if you run across one, grab it! I'll post pictures once it arrives.

Nice find.

I enjoy these pipes. I had two. Now I only have one. Sad story about the other one.

It was one of your post about them that made me aware of them some years ago. I bought one, a small pot, and then the web site sold out of them before I could afford another one. I was very blessed to find one in good shape on eBay.

Does anybody else have one of these pipes? I'd like to see more discussion about them. To me, they are the sleeper brand of sleeper brands or, at least, they were.

I accidentally left behind a G. Huybrecht pipe in the bell tower of a church in another city from the one I am currently in. I think that it will be safe until a return for it as I am the only one who knows that it is there.

pipes2smoke.com used to sell them, NOS I believe, a few years ago. I do not know of a merchant that sells new ones today.

There is one, unsmoked, at http://sherlocks-haven.com/english.html for $150.

Group 4. I think it has an unusual but pleasant shape. I'd call it a paneled pear. I like the cross cut stummel.

I'd forgotten about Marty Pulver's site. I'll need to check it more often.

Edit - It looks like it has been smoked to me even though the description says it is unsmoked.

Having the inaugural smoke with some PA today. Sweet pipe! A bit of gurgling about halfway through the bowl but that was probably me smoking too fast. This will definitely be in rotation!
