These aren't my pipes but, rather, pipes I've made and photographed. These are some of my favorite photos:

Absolutely spectacular, Wayne.
So glad you posted. You've taken this thread to an extraordinarily high level.

My understanding of this thread was that it was intended to be about favorite pictures of pipes, not pictures of favorite pipes
That's right. That's why I phrased it that way. Favorite pictures of pipes
What if my favorite pictures of pipes are pictures of my favorite pipes?
Than you would be like me! I like pictures of my pipes. Especially those I've refurbed.

Great thread idea Goose!

I've enjoyed looking at the photography and all the nice pipes therein.

Love the evocative atmosphere set in your pix Durango, they create a calm and mellow mood in me.

And Wayne, your art also evokes!

Good stuff!

My absolute favorite pipe picture that I've taken came out in a way that I just love...

Nice pix, Philo. That one with the smoke wafting out of it is classic.

It is incredibly difficult to capture a smoldering pipe, and it can be a frustrating exercise.

Yep.

He's a great photographer no doubt.

The b&w stuff is amazing, and besides the shadows he also uses a sort of pictorialist blur thing too, sort of like the romantic soft-cinema close-ups of actresses --- an effect difficult to get without manual focus, or vaseline on the lens.

No, Goose. They're all my own photos.

Photographing my pipes is as much of a hobby for me as collecting and smoking them. I almost always photograph an estate pipe as soon as I'm done refurbishing it and a new pipe before it's smoked. Often, the props included are from other favorite pastimes like fishing and hunting.

I love photographing my pipes after I finish them. My photography skills are next to zero, but the stars align for me on occasion.

ImageHere is a picture of the pipe that I am smoking right the hell now. It's a Peterson Emerald rustic Canadian that I bought at a sho called the News & Smokes sometime in the early two thousands. It's the second Peterson pipe I ever bought. It also has had a brief career on the stage. When I was Lucky in a production of Waiting for Godot a few years ago I was asked by the director what a Peterson pipe was because another of the characters was described as smoking one in the text of the play. I brought all of the Petersons I had to the next rehearsal and told the actor playing Pozzo to pick the one that most appealed to him for his character to smoke. He chose this one and pretended to smoke it through the run of the show. I should have just made the theater buy him his own damn pipe.
