You held off longer than usual. What's the artistic value of that picture?

It's a question better asked of Sotheby's or Christie's

Here's one . . .

Three of the Italian made Stanwells (post 2010) purchased when a guy was selling them as "unclaimed baggage" for around $30 on eBay. I kept the Zulus, gave the bulldog and several others away. Wish I'd gotten more.

That's a great looking pipe. A work of art! Where, pray tell, did you find it?

This 1986 Curt Rollar horn is one of my favorite pipes, and I think this is my favorite photo of it.
I've taken others, but they didn't seem to capture the flow of the pipe's lines very well.

Gorgeous pipe and stellar photograph. I think that reflection on the bowl made that image pop. It's a zinger.

Thanks, Goose.

I have a few rolls of a waterproof putty that is intended for sealing electrical connections, most especially coaxial connectors for antenna transmission lines. It's called coax-seal. I discovered that it was the perfect, sticky putty for holding pipes in various positions so you can get the orientations and reflections you want without the pipe constantly falling over or sliding around.

I imagine children's modeling clay would work pretty well, too.

Correction on the above photo of the Comoy's bulldog and zulus.
Those are the new French made Comoy's.

My head was clearly up my, well, you know.

We had a long-running thread going about whether those bargain Comoy's were any good.
As near as I can tell they're no different from the ones that are now being sold by retailers as current production.

Discussion of the pros and cons of the post 2010 Italian Stanwells can be saved for another day.

Yes. Comoy's.
I posted a correction too late to make it in the original post. (See above)

These are the recent French-made pipes, and I agree drax - still damn fine.
Recent Stanwells are Italian-made.

I imagine that is what I found up there, with my head in the dark.

Yes, but more on it later. With all due respect to the artistic process.

This is your thread Goose, so you can do with it what you wish, but I think perhaps you titled it incorrectly. Or your intention has wandered since then. Clarification is in order. Do you want to see our favorite pictures of pipes or pictures of our favorite pipes? 'Cause I gotta tell ya, that picture of your pipe in progress is not all that endearing or artistic. I'n not commenting on the pipe - I'm sure it'll be a nice one - but the photograph itself.

Now you've gone and done it. You tried to correct the Goose. Time for the Goosening, part Deux.
