A tobacco blend to make someone barf!

Post by Winton » Sat Sep 03, 2016 5:12 pm

My nephew has mentioned that he wants me to show him how to smoke a pipe. I doubt he has ever smoked. Today I asked his dad about this. I asked if he prefers this to be a pleasing experience, or he prefer I give him something that would make him barf. He preferred the second option.

I think that C&D's Haunted Bookshop would be a good selection. It has a heavy nic hit and not the best tasting. I tried it again this afternoon and it had me dizzy quickly. I had to smoke some C&D Nutty Irishman afterward to enjoy the experience. Yes, I am more concerned about family relationships than recruiting another smoker.

C&D After Hours is the only blend that made me puke. The massive N kick hit me before I knew it.

G&H Rum Flake. I'm very good with strong tobaccos, but this one always gets my head spinning. It does have a good flavor though...

lightweights. I have never gotten sick on those blends, although never tried haunted bookshop. Flavorwise, Rum Flake is a pretty foul tasting blend.

Just blend it with a bunch of hair or something. That should do it

I am definitely a lightweight. This is not a bad blend, but I can only have a little of it, after a big meal.

Definitely not the blend for a skinny kid that has never smoked before.

I think this is a bad idea. At the very least it's mean spirited. How old is your nephew? If he's a minor then saying no he has to wait is a perfectly reasonable response. If he has reached age of majority then you can inform him that his father is opposed and see what he says. But I can't imagine a circumstance where you need to make that first experience really awful. It will certainly affect his judgment concerning your reliability. That is a good reason to never do anything like this.

Rusty, the more I think about this issue, the less certain I am on how to handle it. First, he is over 18. His father and I recognize some maturity issues. I think if he does ask me, I will agree to share with him the proper techniques. But I will also stress the dangers and expenses of the hobby. He is kinda an all in, or nothing guy. Moderation is not a concept for him.

Can backfire, too. My father caught me with a packet of Pall Malls when I was about 18 and made me smoke two packs back to back. You know what happened? I was addicted.

Better to say no.

I was interested in trying that, but the reviews made it seem like a Lakeland and that my least favorite kind of tobacco.

I think Rusty's advice is very right on target.
