But what does your list mean, Judge?

If we asked another group we'd come with another list. Some might be on both lists. But the blend lists actually say more about those voting.

An older crowd would include more Burleys and more Virginias too likely. There are too many Latakia blends. The devil is among the Christians. Perique blends are under-represented on the list too.

The numbers are the numbers, you provide the commentary.

Mc Frog Morton 5
Orlik Golden Sliced 5

SG 1792 Flake 5

I say unofficial because I about went blind trying to count and weed out folks voting multiple times.
Wow, nice thread resurrection!

Picking a top 5 is obviously difficult, as the answer is usually "it depends on..." That being said, if I had to think of 5 tobaccos off the top of my head that that I would place as personal favorites (not necessarily tobacco that I smoke every day, but tobacco that stands out in my memory as a favorite):

- Penzance
- Presbyterian Mixture
- SG Navy Flake
- Frog Morton's Cellar
- Prince Albert

Once I have a chance to smoke more of it, C&D's Pegasus might replace PA as my go-to Burley. Also, as popular as they are, I would never have considered including any of the FM series, until the Cellar. It grows on me a bit more every time I smoke it.

Again, a bunch of honorable mentions could go along with these, but If I was limited to these 5 tobaccos for the rest of my life, I'd probably be pretty happy.

OK, OK - Honorable mention goes to Lancer's Slices, Kendal Plug, Rattrays Red Rapparee (might should be in the top 5), Dunhill 965, Black Frigate, Jack Knife Plug, Chelsea Morning...

I saved the complete tally. If the thread picks up again, I can update the numbers, picking up from today forward. Many you mentioned received a vote or three.

Lately in no particular order:

McClelland Bulk 2000 Fragrant Matured Cake
Esoterica Stonehaven
John Patton's Crossroads
Wessex Brigade Classic Virginia from 1998
Hamborger Veermaster

When my current opened tins are depleted I'll probably bump something from the list. My tastes seem to go with what is opened which seems to go with what I am in the mood for.

Back in 2009 this was my list:
Irish-Dane wrote:Blue Diamond (a local blend---never found its equal)
FMOTT
Majestic 586
No Bite Delite
Watson's Pond
Today I would say the list looks something like this:
Blue Diamond (still my fav)
Squadron Leader
No Bite Delite
FMOTT
C&D Sam's Blend

I'll also say it was fun to read what I think is the first back-n-forth between Rusty and myself. Thanks for the thread resurrection Judge.

I think I've come to a point that I am ready to name my top 5. This could easily change at any point, as I've been sampling a lot of different blends recently.

1. Penzance
2. McCl 3 Oaks Syrian
3. Bullseye Flake
4. Margate
5. Squadron Leader

There are a lot runners up.
