Fly Fishing vs Fishing with Spinning Tackle

In these modern times (2017), Spinning Tackle holds a yuge advantage over the Fly Rod. Research shows that under the same circumstances one can catch infinitely more fish on spinning tackle than on a fly rod. This is very very very tremendous news.

I'll be sure to tell that to Japanese fly fishermen. Both of them.

Six 2017 fishing trips to recently stocked trout streams, about 4 hours each. 24 hours fishing time. 22 hours with fly rod. 2 hours with spinning tackle. One fish caught on Joe's Fly spinner. Spinning tackle=1, fly rod=0. Controlled empirical research. 1 fish is infinitely more than zero.

Yeah, this is why most jury selections seem to avoid engineers.

Yeah, I worked with a bunch of those bozos, so I can agree. They also seem to have this bizarre idea that just because an engineer is good at engineering, that automatically means they'll be great as engineering managers.

Heh. That could be a problem.

Please note I'm not insulting the profession by saying I don't want one of its members on a jury. I also don't want priests, nurses, attorneys, or military men. The mindsets don't play well with what I do--if I was a civil attorney, I'm sure the list of professions would change.

Nah. We get it. Engineers tend to be driven by facts and facts only, and usually one side of the case doesn't want that. I know only two engineers who have ever actually served on juries. Most show up, get interviewed, and then immediately dismissed when "profession?" comes up. I've never even been called. (Knock on wood...)

Correction. In a criminal case, neither side wants facts only. Prosecutors want to inflame your passions, defense wants to untie the knot.
