WHAT ARE THE ODDS?!?

Post by Jocose » Wed Sep 20, 2017 11:41 am

What are the odds?

I worked all night long and then got in my moonbase-mobile and was listening to the news on my merry way back home.

I had no idea what time it was and kept waiting for the news to tell me. Playing a guessing game with myself I finally gave in and punched the "Time" button on the radio.

The radio display kept showing the News station I was listening to, 101.1 so after several frustrating punches on the "Time" button it finally read 10:12.

It took a minute to set in that 101.1 and 10:11 are the same numbers representing two completely different meanings but fooled me thinking the button was broken.

What are the odds of this happening?

Weird, it must be a sign that the end of the world is really going to happen this weekend.

I'll see y'all on the other side.

I'm sure one of the math nerds will be along shortly to give a precise answer, but I'm going to venture its not as unlikely as it feels. Kind of like being in a room full of strangers, the odds that someone else shares your birthday is actually pretty high.

Sometimes I sleep in a ditch and eat candy corns while my mind drifts back to muggy summer nights when I was older but not wiser. Then, when I wake with a start, I see the clouds and realize nothing will ever be right again unless I take a shot of Jack and go back to sleep in a different county. The leaves are brown, as is the water in my hat.

Actually, it is the odds that two people in a group in a room have a shared birthday that is actually quite high (50-50 for a room of 23).

80% of stats are wrong 48% of the time?

What are the odds Jocose will give a straight answer to any question?
Not that I have a problem with that.

In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.
