Rita Makes Jim Watch the CMA Awards

The part of the church where the silliest things happen. Conversations that sound like they belong in the youth room will be moved here.

My wife watched...I went downstairs and tied flys.
This post (and the OP about LovelyRitaMeterMaid) gets to the heart of the problem. Country music that's played on the radio today is programed for K-Love listening suburban women and 14 year old girls. For sure, there's always been a genre for that audience (think Pat Boone and Shaun Cassidy), but it wasn't country and western. That was our music. Middle-aged, white, working class males. There's still music out there for us - Corb Lund, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Chris Stapleton, and Sturgill Simpson - it just aint on FM radio.

I agree completely...I find myself listening to cds and tapes. I put on a mix cass tape that I made when I was doing DJ work...listened to that while I tried to figure out how to tie a Fan-Wing Royal Coachman...music was good...fly was poor

The heartfelt lyrics of today's country music gets me all emotional.
I do like brothers Osborne, but they aren't country. Chris Stapleton is close. That's why I like blue Grass, harder to rock it.

Well, not everybody can do that well, you know.

Country always was questionable. Western was where it was at.
