Best Bad Liver

Post by FredS » Thu Dec 28, 2017 5:21 pm

All liver is bad. Onions don't help. It stinks. Vultures eat guts. We've moved up the chain and no longer have to scrounge for the leftovers.

Boy, you're usually right, but when you're wrong, wow. Offal isn't awful, you know.

Geezer crossover. I’m having 3 Noggins so, not a Codger Burley Story.

My dad loved liver and onions. It was one of his favorites and we’d have it every few weeks.

Revolting.

I wanted to be my dad. I studied his liver consumption methods. And I had oral traditions of years to rely on that my mother cooked it exactly perfectly.

Revolting.

I noticed that if the organ meat in question found a spot to be completely charred as it was fried and the ratio of liver to onions is 1:25 and there is a lot of catchup / ketsep; I could keep it down.

I the numerous times I was forced to consume liver and onions I enjoyed exactly 2 small bites of it; it could be eaten without gagging or stifling a gut wretch.

Because. Ya know? It’s <zederated> revolting.

Chicken livers with gravy, served over white rice? I've enjoyed this dish in the finest NY restaurants, with a Heineken on the side.

Calf liver with onions and rice? My mom made the best.
I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)

Hated it as a kid, occasionally enjoy it as an adult, but not often. It's best chicken-fried.

Chicken livers, in particular, are best wrapped in bacon, grilled, and served with horseradish and ketchup. Once in a while, I'll stop at a local fried chicken joint and get some livers and gizzards fried. Add a little hot sauce and boom, Bob's yer uncle.

I do not enjoy it cooked in any way with onions.

I’m with FredS on this one.

Rib eye.
Liver.

I cannot begin to fathom the thought that there’s a choice here.

Lint.
Liver.

Now, there’s more of a problem, but I think I’d go with lint.

Calf liver with onions, and a baked potato. Great meal. Love it.

I was forced to eat beef liver as a kid about once a week, and that along with several other foods are on my "I don't have to eat that ever again" list. I used to think I craved it once or twice a decade but I could never get the first bite down and I later discovered that it was just an upset stomach that was bothering me and not a craving for liver. :egor:

All this liver talk has me craving some livers and gizzards.

You're all a bunch of enablers.

Bacon wrapped chicken livers and braunschweiger are my favorite ways to eat it.

Never tried it. Worked in a butcher shop through high school. Never really seemed like a great idea. My dad loves it.

Knowing that Jim VanHalen has probably cleaned a bird or two in his life, I don't understand how in the world he'll eat a gizzard.
