Which cities and towns should be noted for memorable waffles?
Los Angeles comes to my mind, with their Strawberry Waffles served up at long forgotten 1950's diner.

Re: Waffle towns
When we are looking for a place to eat in a strange town, it is always easy to find the Waffle House.
We refer to it as "Plan C."

Re: Waffle towns
I've eaten at probly close to every WH from Charleston SC to Houston. My wife and I and our three kids once had Thanksgiving lunch at the WH in Pascagula MS. We all sat at different tables/booths. I don't remember what everyone had but I'm sure I had a pecan waffle.
I'm old but I'm happy. (Most of the time.)
