I'm making a crock pot of Cajun Red Beans tomorrow.

There's no bacon in the recipe. It's powered by meaty smoked ham bone and pound of cajun-spiced brats (since I can't get decent andouille in Wisconsin).

But I need to brown the brat slices and sweat the veggie trinity in some bacon grease. So I'm thawing some of my local butcher's thick-cut, smoked bacon -- for breakfast! Hot, crispy bacon strips for me.... and fresh, hot bacon grease for Cajun Red Beans.

There's gonna be some good eats tomorrow!

I had breakfast for dinner 2 nights ago complete with a package of bacon. Me and my daughter (who is now 5) devoured almost all of it. I had 2 strips left over, so I made her a bacon sandwich for school yesterday. Did I mention that I cooked the bacon in my late grandmothers cast iron skillet that has been cooked in for over 60 years?

Oh yeah, and last night I got a bacon burger from Five Guys Burgers and Fries.

The first of the winter chill is upon us, and Mrs. Del was wondering what we should eat for dinner tonight. We haven't done our weekend grocery shopping.... choices are slim.

Sandwiches? Maybe some Campbell's soup?

I organized my freezer today and found 8 pounds of bacon, mostly sourced from the local FFA chapter's fundraising.

Most is thick-sliced and smoked, but there was also a couple of pounds of thick-slice peppered.

It appears I'm a bacon hoarder.

Mrs. Gabriel was at the local meat locker yesterday picking up some pork chops for company yesterday. She also got us a package of their thick cut bacon.

Had it for lunch today. Freakin' amazing. When they say "thick cut", they're not foolin' around. 1/4-5/16" easy. So good.

At our annual Christmas breakfast and ornament exchange this morning:

- Jalapeno bacon
- Bacon and brown sugar wrapped little smokies
- Bacon pecan pie
- Chocolate covered Bacon
- Bacon cheddar egg pie (frittata?)
- Bacon, jalapeno, and egg tacos

The ornament exchange was fun, too. I gave away a farting Santa (BIG hit).

Bacon-wrapped NY Strip a couple times this week, and still have half of one in the fridge that I couldn't finish.
