Well done, Fred. That grain looks very promising, can't wait to see it finished. Looks like a big bowl properly balanced by length.
It’s almost believable, but I love it most of the time whether it’s true or not.

FredS has the pipe making thing down, yet he makes so few. He's creating a supply-n-demand thing that no one can touch. Someday FredS, someday.

This one may end up smooth. It has a couple pits but I think I can minimize them when I stain so we'll see. I think the bowl is just a skoosh big/heavy - I may take it down a bit. Of course that may open those pits in to caverns. We'll see.

Fred, if life afforded you the opportunity of pipe making for more than 5 minutes at a time i have no doubt you would be a household name much more than many who are already.

IKR? Like every other (important) skill in life, this one is learned by doing. Over and over. And I don't do it often enough to get proficient. Every time I see some open shop time coming up on my schedule I have to sit down at the bench for a couple hours and smoke a bowl or two to get my head wrapped around this craft that I haven't worked at for a few months. For me, the aesthetic juices begin to flow quicker than the handcraft juices. I can draw, draw, draw, but sooner or later I need to get out the drill bits and sanders and actually build the damn thing.
