I haven't, but perhaps I should try. I could either find a sufficiently desiccated corn cob or let a corncob dry out and then trim and hollow it out. I'd have to find some sort of hollow reed material for the stem.
Somebody has to have tried this.

Re: Who has made their own cob?
I started smoking cobs in college, and sometimes fancied that I might fabricate my own cob pipe. My grandfather's farm had plenty of dried cobs lying about.
I had a good friend (eventually, best man at my wedding) from Washington, MO. He told me that field cobs aren't very good for pipes. The corn-cob pipe factory in his hometown grows special corn just for making pipes. That made sense, as I knew from experience that dried cobs aren't very durable. (They break apart during cob-fights with cousins.)
This was all long before the Internet, so a guy couldn't just "google it."
================================
Fast-forward to the present: Kaydens brought gifts to the Chicago Pipe Show for CPS members in attendance, rustic pipes from Taiwan. The bowls were cut from segments of sturdy bamboo cane (about 3/4 in i.d.). It's like smoke a corn stalk, rather than corn cob.
The stems were long, thin sections of cane, like reed.
Smokes surprisingly well!

You want http://aristocob.com/. They currently sell kits as well as kernals from MM for growing your own cobs.

Only God can make a cob.
