My exercise/health/accountability...

Post by JMG » Thu Nov 02, 2017 6:59 pm

I'm overweight. I've been gradually becoming more overweight since I got married as most of us do. My genetics are not hugely in my favor so I need to get a handle on things and make more of a life-change than anything. I write this as a means to be accountable more than anything else. As of two weeks ago I was weighing in at 217 and NEED to be down to at least 195, but would love to be at 185-190.

Since we are living on the mission base for now, I've been playing in a weekly pick-up soccer game on Sundays. Also, I've been going to the gym every day for about two weeks. I'm sore as crap right now. I took it somewhat easy the first week to ease into things, but stepped it up this week. Even though I hurt, I feel much better emotionally from the exercise.

My biggest problem is that I sleep terribly...always have. If the world operated on my schedule I would go to bed around 2 am and wake up around 10 or 11. I hate that about myself, but no matter what I try it's just the way my body is wired. That's not to say I wake up that late...I wish. Life doesn't allow that. Anywho, I stay up late and end up eating nearly an entire meal's worth of calories late at night. It's terrible for me, I know. I have awful will power in this area. I admit this in hopes that from time-to-time some of you may drop me a line and tell me to stop being a fatty and have some self-control. Thanks in advance.

Stop being a fatty.

Seriously though, I'm right there with you. It doesn't get any easier the older you get either. I bought some free weights recently with good intentions but they are already collecting dust just like my treadmill. I've got to get a handle on it too. We should have a CPS weight loss accountability thread where we check in with photos of us on a scale weekly. Perhaps we could sweeten the incentives by putting together a tobacco & pipe prize for the person who loses the most weight in a certain time period.

I'd be glad to donate a handmade pipe and some tobacco, btw.

Forget good health incentive...things just got good. I'd be willing to throw in something (not sure what). I've lost 3 lbs this past two weeks...do I win?
