Biopsy results

Post by Steverino » Thu Dec 07, 2017 10:56 pm

If you read my "Biopsy tomorrow" thread a couple of weeks back, you know it's about time for me to get the results of the biopsy. I did so yesterday. There is both good news and bad news. The good news is that no cancerous cells were found in any of the 12 samples that were taken. The bad news is that there were no prostate tissue cells either, or not enough to give a conclusive result. So basically the biopsy was a bust. The one redeeming conclusion that can be drawn is that if I do have any cancerous tissue in my prostate, it apparently has not spread anywhere else yet.

Moving forward, I'll be going back to the urologist in March for another PSA check. If my PSA level has dropped, we will go ahead with the original TURP surgery that was planned before the PSA thing came up (went up?). If the PSA level is the same or higher, another biopsy will be done, this time under general anesthesia, which I am very glad of though it will mean a longer recovery time. Based on the results of the second biopsy (maybe) the doctor will decide what the appropriate surgery will be.

I want to thank you all again for your prayers on my behalf. It always means a lot.

God bless you.

Steve
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the Lord, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. Isaiah 55:6,7 ESV

I have a category for this sort of thing... when events are troubling, and I struggle to accept how difficult outcomes are part of God's greater good for us.

I call these "dang-it prayers."
