Last jar cracked open

Post by JohnnyMcPiperson » Mon Aug 28, 2017 5:30 am

We have a thread for newly opened tins, what about those jars you tossed in a box and forgot about all the while listening to them pop and ding as the months or years pass? What have you recently popped open or what are you excited about opening? Have you noticed any visual changes or new smells as you open them? How long have they been locked away in the jar?

I use both 1/2 pint Kerr jars, and 4 ounce Kerr jars to store bulk tobacco. The 1/2 pint for long term, and I often split those to 4 ounce to smoke from.

Last 1/2 pint Kerr I cracked was an 18 month old jar of Sir Walter Raleigh.

I'm curious what 18 months did for SWR

Me too.

As for the thread, I opened a jar of MacB Navy Flake...it was about 3 years stored in the jar and it has separated into strings rather than flake and it had a nice jar note, but it still must be smoked slowly or it will bite, just like it did when it went into the jar.

Just send it to me for analysis.

I don't know whether it was just my style, but I could never get McBaren blends to smoke without a bite.
