What's Your First Smoke Of The Day?

For those that enjoy the pipe with morning coffee, what's been your usual 1st bowl, lately, and why?

For a long time now mine's been Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. bulk Brown Flake (unscented). So rich, flavorful, and smooth, and pairs well with coffee

Yeah, it was definitely the right choice. Cigarettes are poison, no question.

Wish I could tell you I had a usual first tobacco of the day. I don't. It's whatever is in my pouch or open. Usually a Virginia or va/per, but sometimes Prince Albert or a light aromatic. For a while it was Early Morning Pipe.

But no, nothing so regimented. I was a Camel smoker for almost 20 years. Nothing else tasted right. I dally much more with pipe tobacco.

On workdays, my first smoke is my end of day smoke. If circumstances do allow me to smoke in the morning, it's almost always a burley of some kind. I like the nic kick and they taste better with coffee.

On weekends, or other times I have the opportunity to smoke in the morning, it will almost always be PA.

I'd have to get up at 3:30 to enjoy a pipe before work. That's not happening. When I am off and at the lake I enjoy Dunhill Early Morning Pipe with some good coffee

I can relate to this (highlighted) statement. My first smoke of the day is a search for something and anything that will take me back to the harsh taste of morning sigarrette that I still vividly remember. Although I begin developing a bit more of understanding of pipe tobacco, I still have days when the craving for strong nicotine shot is there, and especially in the morning. Still not having any cigarettes in the house and enjoying different tobaccos in my pipes.

I find a good smooth, full flavor tobacco like Gawith, Hoggarth & Co.'s bulk Brown Flake so very satisfying as a first pipe in the morning. Far far more satisfying than any cigarette. Their bulk Scotch Flake is also very good, too. There's no perique and no latakia in them. They don't need it.
