Ha, I supposed to be eating Keto to try to get into the Guard before the middle of July. As of 3 weeks ago I was 3 bmi percent away. My snack suggestion is cheese. Taco shells made from cheese are not bad.

Exactly! Also, no cinnamon rolls and raisin bread on this program. Ridiculous!

I'm trying it now. Can't poop.

It works. Body fat is down and I'm looking tighter. I feel good too, except for the pooping part. And it is hard to sustain that kind of diet in a family with six children living at home. I'll probably just go back to low carb, no added sugar.

Thanks. I'm getting cranky.

Another note to those considering keto - keto does not mean you can eat as much as you want. You should still be generally aware of you calorie intake and expenditure.

They say to limit snacking to avoid spikes in blood sugar but when you need a snack these are good

Hard boiled eggs
String cheese
Beef jerky *not cured with sugar
Bacon
Nuts and seeds
Bone broth
Avocado

You can eat lots of cruciferous vegetables with negligible carbs when you add their fiber content.

Boost your veggies.

Try some cabbage sauteed in lard, seriously, lard is a healthy fat.

Careful. Too much cabbage and you'll be "running" to the bathroom.

I find when doing keto, the days I get the farts are the days I give into temptation and eat a donut. I'm starting a cycle of alternating milk fast days tomorrow. We will see about the farts I may get.....

I didn't know anything about the ketogenic diet, how it works, who is likely to benefit, etc. So I turned to the most trusted source on the Internet:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketogenic_diet

It seems that this diet is primarily designed to help control seizures in epileptic children.

Adverse effects include constipation and kidney stones.

As far as weight loss is concerned, it is considered to be a modified form of the Adkins diet.... "low-carb."

Just sprinkle a little psyllium husk on the bacon every morning. :bacon:

Here you go Del:

The Rogue Priest talks about Wisconsin ”tacos.”

He’s mostly right, though Baja Mexicans DO often make tortillas for tacos out of wheat flour.

I know all that. I love authentic Mexican "tacos," by any name.

Sometimes I save some of the fried tortilla chips to each with the Mexican entree.... so it goes crunch.
