They arrived today. All 3 are terrible. I'm pretty sure none of them are actually tobacco. I'm think they are dried sewage sprayed with fruit scented tile cleaner.

Just ordered 2 tins of MCB Navy Flake and two of Bob's Chocolate from MARS. I think I'll be acquiring some more Christmas Cheer shortly.

Was given a pouch of Iwan Ries & Co. Vanilla Cordial yesterday along with my purchase of a new Comoy Royal Guard billiard -- PAD has struck again!

Though the tobacco itself was moist and springy in the pouch, it smoked with less gurgling than some other aromatics I've tried.

Last night I bought 3 tins from a shop in Indy...

100gr Blackwoods Flake from 1998
100gr Dark Star from 2000
100gr Virginia Woods from 1997

Got all 3 for less than 40 bucks out the door... not too shabby eh?

I ordered 3lbs of "true" perique from Percy Martin (last of the perique farmers...). It comes in whole leaf form, so I gotta chop it myself, and there's no preservatives in it, so it's got some special storage instructions, etc. - but I'm very excited to have some of the "real stuff."

I also ordered, from www.smokingpipes.com, the following:
  • 4, 8oz bags of GLPease Abingdon
1, 8oz bag of Esoterica Tobacciana Stonehaven
One note on the Abingdon...Greg Pease & the Tarlers from C&D (his blender) posted on ASP a few weeks ago that there would be a pricing increase this year on GLPease products. I noticed that most all the other web merchants have already raised their prices to around $30+ per 8oz bag. www.smokingpipes.com still has theirs for $24.49. (Nope, I'm not connected in any way with them...other than a happy customer.)

Dunhill "Dunbar"

Good stuff and it smokes GREAT with thick billowing clouds of dense white smoke but smooth with no bite.

I smoked a giant bowl while I was filling out the thirtyone questions thing and never had to relight or tamp. When it got thin I went to tamp and discoverd that the ashes pressed all the way down to nothing. I dumped them out of a clean dry bowl.

I will be keeping this on hand in the future.
