the last tobacco i purchased was McClellan's British Woods.. before ordering that i did not think anything would be better than their Frog Morton's, but i was wrong!

sadly, the British Woods is now all but gone, and I have to finish off my Frog before I order any more..

i am definitely a new piper, but i love regular Frog Morton. i have a tin of FM across the pond waiting for me, as i don't smoke that frequently, and i look forward to trying more mclellend blends.

the thing i love about FM is that is leaves an enjoyable aftertaste, and since i have a bad taste in my mouth most of the time, this is nice, as opposed to smoking a cigar, or even some of the house blends that i have tried.

So far my go to blend has been Orlicks Dark Strong Kentucky. Ive tried various others in bulk that they bag up and give to you. Some have been ok, but this one is a treat. Ive been puffing since September and prolly have gone through about 6 tins of this stuff.

It's been a while, but here it goes:

Let's just say I have around 70 pounds of bulk tobacco canned and over 300 tins of tobacco, smoke one tin and replace it with two tins :D

Wow!! I was feeling pretty good to have about 40lbs total (about 3lb bulk, the rest in tins)...of course, I only smoke about 2lb per year, so two decades is a decent buffer should something foul happen <redacted_emoji>

Thankfully, my wife can't tell exactly how much tobacco is in that cabinet of mine, or I might be in a little trouble :D

whew...

I thought I was the only one that was looking at this and thinking it would be enough for years!

I am really new about 1 month.. used about 2 oz of tobacco. Puts me in the under 2 lbs a year category. I already have 10 ounces of tobacco lined up puts me into summer before I need to buy anything. Of course if my wife can't have enough shoes... . you can never have enough tobacco. You know you need the right shoe for the right outfit. You need the right tobacco for the right mood/weather/pipe... Right?

Well, British Woods is a McClelland oriental blend. It's has little in common with Nightcap as far as taste goes, but a very good tobacco nonetheless. If I had to characterize it in comparison to Nightcap, a.) it has no perique, so that little "kick" isn't present, and b.) it is considerably more muted than many latakia/oriental blends. I wouldn't really call it an extremely mild blend, but it's not especially sharp. It's a nice, creamy smoke. I enjoy it considerably more than I did the Frog Morton blends, but that's just my taste buds. I really like it, and keep a few tins in the old tobacco cabinet, but don't cellar tons of it like I do some others. I would definitely recommend at least a trial of it...I tried a bowl in a box pass and was turned on to it.

Well I do appreciate the information. I am rather new to the hobby/lifestyle of pipe smoking. So I am pretty much open to anything that sounds as if it would be up my alley. The only quibble with Nightcap is its a tad heavy on the tongue.

The others I own or have tried are Christmas Cheer 2004, Peterson's Sherlock Holmes, and a Atladis Blue Note (very good aromatic I think) and Mac Barens Cube which everyone seems to love.

I will check out the British Woods, amongst others. (Dark Star, Irish Oak, and Full Balkan from McClelland) are what I am looking forward too next. Any opinions would be great.
