There is a link in the initial post in this thread that no longer works to an earlier post by the late Rusty on the history of the English Tobacco Purity Laws. Can anyone make it work? Thank you.
I believe it was to this post: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=16217&p=371638&hili ... t.#p371638

Here is the link to the list: http://www.advisorybodies.doh.gov.uk/sc ... eslist.pdf (Seems to work intermittently)

Enjoy!

And seven years from now, when the youngsters ask, "What's tobacco?" it will have even more meaning.

Whose Sonny & Cher?

Kidding. My grandmother went to high school in Inglewood at the same time that he did.

Sonny: interesting taste in women, against the grain politician, not good skier.

~1972 +/-, a college buddy and I asked a couple of girls to go with us to the Houston Livestock Show, to go see Sonny and Cher. But we messed up, got the dates confused, and ended up with tickets for the wrong night. Instead of Sonny and Cher, we saw Engelbert Humperdinck. It was a bit embarrassing to my buddy and I, but the girls enjoyed the show and really had a good laugh at our expense.

Englebert and Tom both look kind of strange in cowboy boots and hat, but so would S&C. I remember laughing at Englebert lifting his foot and glancing at the bottom of his boot after a short walk across the arena to the stage.
