Even if it was the only tobacco that was left on earth, I still don't know if I would touch it.

I actually enjoy Mixture 79 now and then.

Various comments gleaned from Tobacco Reviews on the Original Mixture:

"It's pretty ho-hum but not unpleasant."
"Also towards the end of the bowl and i do mean the last 3-4 draws on my pipe it does get a bit tarry and chemically."
"The flavour is satisfactory but not top grade."
"All in all it was not an unpleasant smoke, but is certainly not a game changer for me."
"Overall this blend was not terrible by any means. It certainly was not great either. It was quite blase to me. Very subtle flavors, boring if you will."
"With all the good blends on the market, there's just no reason to spend your money here."
"it is nothing special"
"I don't even think I will keep my BR original for emergencies even. Sorry BR!!!"
"this is a genocide for your taste buds."
"It's not often I write a review of a tobacco I doubt I'll purchase again, but it's not so much a review as a note to my future self should I be tempted again..."
"Never ever again!"
"The Borkum Riff people really could sell water to dolphins!"

I surely do enjoy products that scale the heights to achieve mediocrity.
Rgrds,
Joe

I smoked through some Mixture 79 that someone sent me a while back. I can't remember if it was you or not. I was searching for something extremely scented - over the top. Mixture 79 was was a finalist, but I fell hard for Ennerdale Flake. Ennerdale has strength that Mixture 79 doesn't.

I had a Prof in college who smoked Borkum Riff. I think I bought a pouch once, I'm still suppressing my memory of it (I'm in complete denial over Mixture 79, btw)

At the KC pipe show, I won several pouches of orange and honey flavored BR. I opened a pouch to sniff it and promptly closed it up again. To be fair, I don't think any brand of orange/honey flavored tobacco would provide much of a temptation for me. I may smoke a bowl of it tonight after seeing this thread. :scared:

Hmm.. I may have to look for that. One of the hardest flavors to do well in blending is orange.
