Tell you what, and you can and may hold me to it. When all of the McC tobacco's are gone from all markets and exist no more I'll quit smoking and pack up my pipes.
Yeah? Seems silly. You give up something you love every time a supplier commits business hari Kari?
It's more than that, although it seems that way. But I've placed McC as my watermark.
Oh. I thought you were joking. I’m sorry.

Is ok. I'll add this, FM On The Town will be my last smoke, if it works out that I'm in control of my last smoke.

Here's some words today from a noteworthy person in the professional pipe world:

"They [McClelland] are not making tobacco anymore. I expect an official announcement in a month or two." 8-O 8-O 8-O

It's so hard to believe because tobacco is grown around the world and certainly there must be some place on God's green earth that can grow the type and variety of red Virginia that is a vital component of their blends. Doesn't that seem reasonable?

Albeit, I went on a deeper search today and did find two lost and lonely 50 g tins of my beloved McClelland (Red Virginia) Aurora at a pipe & tobacco shop in Sacramento, CA called Briar Patch. Two tins. As though that will make a big difference.

I also got 11 tins of McClelland Ashton Blend PEBBLECUT from Iwan Ries, which also has that special selected red mottled leaf from Carolina. I have smoked Pebblecut before and it is very good.

Not sure how much more of it Iwan Ries has, but just a heads up to those that may want some of that, before it is all gone.
OK, who bought up the rest of Iwan Ries' Pebblecut without saying "thank you, Goose?" After cracking one of my three last tins last night, and finding it sublime, I went back to get some more from Ries and it was GONE.

Soo, is all of McClelland actually heading that way? I got on their website and they moved location into a smaller building but it looks as though they are in a better location. It actually looks like they could open a store front in the new location.

Wait, I’m confused, so if McClelland isn’t doing tobacco anymore... wtf are they doing?

Goose found some for me the other day (plenty decent of you, Goose), but I decided I just didn't have gusto to start chasing it down. If I'm going to have to face obsolescence at some point, I might as well start when my current supply fades away.

Dang, I'm going to miss it.

Yeah actually that's what I'm thinking. I have a couple ounces. I'll 1.5 ounces this summer, then save half an ounce for a few years and then bye bye.

I think you gentleman are wise. It's always been my policy not to chase old favorites when they die. My sadness is a little different: only in the last year, and courtesy of Goose, did I get into McClellands. I was just discovering.
