Your "On The Go" Tobacco Storage

Post by Jocose » Sat Aug 04, 2018 11:54 am

I'll post some pics when I get home.

I have 3 tobacco storages I use on the go.

One is an Alligator skin roll up, one a vintage Dunhill Ostrich leather fold up and finally my favorite, a Morgan Pipes Flapjack (Aluminum Baccyflap)

The rubber liners have long deteriorated on my Alligator and Ostrich roll ups, anybody have any idea how I might replace the worn liners?

Lately it's been a JMG roll-up with small zip lock bags if I'm carrying more than one blend. If I'm using a hard (pistol) case I use little containers similar to these:

These containers work really well for travel, too, though I'd recommend eating the cole slaw first.

100% silicone caulk can be thinned with odorless mineral spirits and a lot of stirring. This can then be painted onto cloth or leather to make it waterproof/airproof. It might not look pretty.

It also makes a good seam sealer for your tent.

Do you think using a black silicone caulk would look any better than a clear? Would it crossover in any way to the tobacco? (Smell or taste)

I have only tried clear, but black should work.

If you let it dry sufficiently, there should be no crossover. Let it sit in the garage for a few days.

Experiment with something you don't treasure before trying it on a beloved pouch. Let us know what happens.
